Early Learning Scholarships and Parent Aware
Wind Ridge Schoolhouse earned a four-star rating from Parent Aware, the highest possible rating. Parent Aware Ratings are based on demonstrated use of practices that best prepare children for kindergarten. The Minnesota Early Learning Standards reflect the full range of child development and include six domains:

A primary motivator for the Schoolhouse to volunteer for the Parent Aware Rating was the Early Learning Scholarships. The Early Learning Scholarships give families financial support to help pay for high-quality early care and education to prepare their young children for school. The scholarship amount is up to $7,500 for a 12 month period. The Early Learning Scholarship must be used at a Minnesota child care or early learning program that is a 3 or 4 star-rated Parent Aware program. - Is committed to school readiness by using best practices in child assessment, and always working toward making instruction more individualized, stimulating and language-rich in order to promote critical thinking.
- Has education credentials, is committed to ongoing professional development and has volunteered for training in the following: key areas of children’s development; cultural and socio-economic differences between families; practices that support inclusion; offering healthy meals; and engaging children in physical activity and active play.
- Develops strong relationships with families by doing the following: sharing assessment results, helping them access family support services, and providing information in parents’ primary languages.
